Cycling for a Cause: MDX Dubai’s 24-Hour Challenge
Middlesex University Dubai (MDX Dubai) recently hosted a thrilling 24-hour cycling challenge, uniting students and staff from its campuses in London, Mauritius, and Dubai. This exciting event showcased the global MDX community’s commitment to teamwork, fitness, and global engagement. The challenge took place from 2 PM on February 19th to 2 PM on February 20th, 2025, with each campus striving to collectively cycle 2025 kilometers on stationary bikes.
A Global Community Pedals Towards Success
The energy was palpable as participants took turns cycling throughout the day and night, spurred on by a live stream connecting the three campuses. This virtual connection fostered friendly competition and allowed everyone to celebrate milestones together in real-time. Despite the demanding nature of the challenge, all three campuses successfully reached the 2025 km target. MDX Dubai even surpassed the goal, achieving an impressive 2031.33 km.
More Than Just Miles: The Spirit of the Challenge
Slavko Micanovic, Student Activities Manager at MDX Dubai, highlighted that the event was about more than just physical endurance. “This challenge was about uniting our global community for a common purpose,” he stated. The dedication and teamwork displayed by the participants were truly inspiring, showcasing the strong sense of community within MDX. Gabriele Poniskaityte deserves special recognition for achieving the highest individual distance, cycling an incredible 121.7 km.
